Women's Mental Health in India

In partnership with NIMHANS (National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences) in Bangalore, we conducted semi structured interviews and a focus group with women from the the Sakalawara Community Mental Health Center who were being treated for depression and anxiety. Our project investigates idioms of distress, casual models, and gender disadvantage in this population. The George Washington University Diane K. Shrier Fund for Research in Women’s Health supported this project. This work was presented at the World Congress on Women's Mental Health in Dublin, Ireland in March 2017, and featured in the Washington Psychiatrist Magazine.
